Untitled (April 2021)

A bust-length portrait of a figure holding a dark smartphone close to their lower face, built entirely from dense, overlapping looped and scribbled strokes in markers across a white paper ground; the palette is intensely chromatic — oranges, reds, magentas, greens, blues, and yellows — with the phone rendered in near-black as the sole zone of controlled darkness. Form and volume emerge from the layered density of color rather than from outline, and the self-referential subject — a figure photographing or consuming a screen — adds a pointed contemporary edge to the expressionist handling.
