A small dog, likely a terrier type, is shown in a frontal bust portrait wearing a small bow tie, rendered in monotype or lithographic printmaking with gestural, freely worked ink marks that create rich tonal gradations. The composition is anchored by the direct, slightly melancholic gaze of the subject against a pale, vignette ground, giving the work an intimate, almost Victorian character-study quality.
