Untitled (July 2018)

A spiral-bound sketchbook page covered first with dense vertical streaks of wax crayon or oil pastel in pink, red, purple, green, and blue — evoking rain, light shafts, or foliage — then aggressively overdrawn with rapid black marker lines that build a chaotic, all-over web of scribbled marks from which tree-like or figure-like forms faintly emerge. The two contrasting mark-making systems, loose chromatic underlay and frenzied black surface, create strong visual turbulence and visible process energy.
