A bust-length portrait of a young woman built entirely from rapid, overlapping hatching strokes in multi-color markers on white paper; horizontal blue lines fill the background while layered reds, oranges and blacks model the face and hair, with a vertical yellow-green stripe anchoring the right edge. The technique is high-speed gestural drawing in which colour and line are laid simultaneously rather than sequentially, producing a vibrating, energetic surface.
