Gesture Drawing

The body reduced to movement, balance, rhythm and line.

Gesture Drawing is one of the foundations of the practice. Short poses limit the amount of information available to the artist and force attention toward what is essential: movement, weight, direction, balance, rhythm, posture and energy, over anatomical finish.

The resulting works preserve the instability of the pose. Models may be standing, seated, reclining, moving, dancing, performing or transitioning between positions.

It exists as private studio practice, traditional life drawing, public session, or collaboration with dancers and performers. The drawing does not wait until certainty arrives. It develops through commitment.
