A close-cropped study of a nude torso rendered in graphite or charcoal on white paper, combining loose, searching contour lines with blocky tonal patches that locate the planes of the back, shoulder, and hip. The drawing has the rapid, exploratory character of a speed study, with multiple overlapping gesture lines left visible rather than erased.
