A charcoal life-drawing of a seated figure viewed from behind, torso and both arms rendered with vigorous gestural marks and bold tonal modelling that carve out the musculature of the back, shoulders and forearms. The composition combines loose contour lines with heavy smudged shading, leaving the white of the paper to serve as highlight and giving the work an energetic, immediate quality.
