A frontal portrait of a woman with a loosely wrapped headpiece, painted in warm ochre and green tones using what appears to be acrylic or oil on a white ground, with energetic blue colored-pencil hatching radiating across the background and spontaneous ink or marker lines defining the hair, neck and lower composition. The tightly modeled face set against the raw gestural field creates a strong tension between resolution and immediacy, characteristic of live-session direct painting.
One of 19 drawings from this night. The 13 on sale as one set: $546 instead of $780.
