Untitled (June 2017)

A seated figure is shown from behind with the head bowed, built up through rapid, looping charcoal strokes over a soft gray ground wash that gives the white paper atmospheric depth. The mark-making is deliberately energetic and unresolved in the lower body, letting the dense hatching of the hair and shoulder anchor the composition while the torso and legs dissolve into gestural abstraction.
